Producer of "Room 118"

Tommy Poole is Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Professor of Music at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. He is an active saxophonist in a variety of genres. Poole's arrangements/compositions have been featured on at least nine CDs. His first three CDs as producer received critical acclaim from All About Jazz, JazzEd Magazine, Outside in Music and ITA Journal. Poole's first-produced CD with the OSU Jazz Orchestra, "Solid Gold," featured GRAMMY-winning trombonist Michael Dease with the OSU Jazz Orchestra. The recording was awarded four stars by All About Jazz. Poole’s most recent CD with the OSU Jazz Orchestra, "Room 118," is available now on most streaming platforms. Poole has presented workshops and served as guest artist, guest conductor, all-state clinician and/or adjudicator for countless national and international conferences and jazz festivals.

"Room 118" is an album featuring the students of the OSU Jazz Orchestra. "Room 118" refers to a rehearsal room in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. This is the room where countless OSU ensembles, of all sizes and idioms, rehearsed for many decades. In the spring of 2021, the students, staff, and faculty of our School of Music moved to a new home thanks to the vision and leadership of the OSU administration and the generosity of Michael and Anne Greenwood as well as the many supporters of our program. This album pays tribute to a rehearsal room that has had a profound effect on countless music students and faculty.
