Matthew Tyler Ley, Ph.D., P.E., has roughly 20 years of experience in the concrete industry. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. Tyler obtained his Bachelors of Science from Oklahoma State University and his Master of Science and Doctorate of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Tyler has worked as an engineer for a design consultant, construction contractor, state government transportation agency and a professor.

He is currently a professor and the Gilbert, Cooper, W&W Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University. All of Tyler’s practical experience has helped him become nationally recognized for his teaching and research. Tyler has taught variety of undergraduate and graduate level civil engineering classes such as reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, concrete materials and mixture design, and concrete durability. In the 11 years at Oklahoma State University, he has received more than $11 million in research funding by state, federal, private and industry sources to study concrete materials, concrete mixture design, the durability and sustainability of concrete and improvements of concrete construction practices.

He has also made a YouTube Channel over concrete that has more than 200,000 views and 3,000 followers.
