Michael Long

Michael A. Long is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at Oklahoma State University. His research addresses social inequality using political economic theory as applied within the areas of environmental sociology, green criminology, corporate crime and food security and ethical trade.

He is the author of three books and over 60 journal articles and book chapters. Some of his recent articles have appeared in Capitalism Nature Socialism, Ecological Economics, European Journal of Criminology, Environmental Research Letters, Risk Analysis, Society & Natural Resources, Theoretical Criminology, among others.

“Green Criminology: Crime, Justice, and the Environment” provides students with an overview and assessment of green criminology as well as a call to action. This groundbreaking text draws attention to the ways in which the political-economic organization of capitalism causes ecological destruction and disorganization.
