Joshua Jansa is an assistant professor of Political Science at Oklahoma State University. He received his doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016. His research focuses on topics in American politics and public policy, including interest groups, lobbying, and campaign finance, state politics, economic development and labor policy, and the politics of economic inequality.

This chapter answers the who, what, when, where, how and why of economic development policy in the American states in the widely read "Politics in the American States” edited volume.
