John Long

co-author of "Introduction to Agricultural Engineering Technology: A Problem Solving Approach" 4th edition

John is an assistant professor in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering and a fully licensed professional engineer in the state of Oklahoma. He currently serves as the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service’s state agricultural machinery and technology specialist where his work focuses on the implementation of intelligent machinery and technology into agriculture.

He has developed and taught courses focused on machinery design, mechanical failure analysis and agricultural electronics. He has experience working with farmers, ranchers and landowners through local and regional workshops centered on spraying, planting and harvesting equipment and technologies.

“Agricultural Engineering Technology: A Problem Solving Approach” focuses on enhancing the reader’s abilities in solving problems common to agriculture. A wide range of topics is covered related to the application of engineering principles in agriculture. Each topic focuses on developing and enhancing the problem-solving ability of the reader. Each chapter contains educational objectives, introductory material and example problems, where appropriate. Most chapters are designed to be self-contained and independent.
