David Schaap is firefighter for Stillwater, Oklahoma, a part-time curriculum developer for Fire Protection Publications and a recipient of a master’s in Professional Writing from Oklahoma State University. He owes his interest and career in the fire service to Fire Protection Publications/International Fire Service Training Association and is extremely grateful for it. He lives in Perkins, Oklahoma with his wife Kristina, daughter Olivia and many pets.

The curriculum covers all 15 chapters of the “Firefighter's Handbook On Wildland Firefighting Strategy, Tactics and Safety" 4th edition. The components are designed for use in both a traditional face-to-face and hybrid classroom environment.

Each lesson contains a detailed, simple-to-use instructor presentation outline in Microsoft Word format. This format allows instructors to customize the files to conform to their own teaching preferences or local procedures if they so choose. Skill evaluation checklists and learning activities pertinent to the lessons are also provided. Customizable high-quality PowerPoint presentations also accompany each lesson.
