An Cheng is a professor of English in the Department of English at Oklahoma State University where he teaches courses in genre studies, writing and research methods. His publications have appeared in the Journal of English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes, Applied Linguistics, Journal of Second Language Writing and other venues.

He serves on the editorial boards of such prestigious journals as Applied Linguistics, English for Specific Purposes, Journal of Second Language Writing and others. He is the author of the book “Genre and Graduate-Level Research Writing” published by the University of Michigan Press.
