Adrienne Redmond-Sanogo

author and co-author of "Three-Act Tasks: Creative Means of Engaging Authentic Mathematical Thinking Through Multimedia Storytelling"

Adrienne Redmond-Sanogo is an associate professor of Mathematics Education at Oklahoma State University and an associate dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education, Health and Aviation. She began her career at Oklahoma State University in 2009. Her research interests center on connecting students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics by exploring interest, attitudes, content knowledge, technology integration and access.

Her specific areas of interest within this line of inquiry include: teaching and learning of mathematics, investigating prospective elementary teacher’ dispositions toward mathematics, increasing interest, readiness, and retention in STEM careers/majors, especially underrepresented populations and integrating iPads and other digital technologies into the teaching and learning of mathematics.

Three-Act mathematics tasks provide opportunities for P-12 learners to engage in creative problem posing, exploration and problem-solving through video storytelling. Because they are innovative and relatively new, preservice and inservice teachers may not be familiar with evaluating, creating and implementing Three-Act tasks. In “Three-Act Tasks: Creative Means of Engaging Authentic Mathematical Thinking Through Multimedia Storytelling,” we describe our design process for developing a rubric to evaluate and scaffold these creative multimedia mathematical stories.
